| Fly fishing for Tarpon, Permit and
Bonefish
in South Ana Maria in Cuba. Ana Maria is the newest of our Cuban
destinations and is considered to be a reasonable priced, very
good place for fishing for tarpon, permit and
bonefish. We offer this new endeavour as a fishing alternative
for those looking to broaden their angling horizons, while
discovering a completely unpressured natural marine environment
for salt water fish. Excellent fishing, food and service along
with long days on the water in a scarcely explored marine eco
system, is what this new and exciting trip is all about.
Cuba. Aside from its
fascinating culture and Caribbean hospitality, Cuba has long
been synonymous with some of the finest fly-fishing in the
world. For the last 14 years of operation to bring together the
most exclusive areas of the country combined with a high level
of service in what are logistically complex environments.
Ana Maria South. The area
is completely untouched and exclusively maintained and
chartered. Species found in this area are: tarpon, bonefish,
permit, snook, jack crevalle, snapper, large and aggressive
barracuda as well as several other powerful species. Our goal is
to offer another destination to unexplored, virgin waters, as we
once did in other areas now well known and protected in Jardines
de la Reina. In recent seasons we have visited these waters with
guides and clients, with spectacular reviews. The results have
been so positive that we are proud to spread the word on how
unique and abundant this marine ecosystem is. The rich flora and
fauna in this area also make it perfect for fishing, as the
waters are so clear and the species are so abundant.
Fly Fishing. This huge South Ana Maria area consists of several
different types of flats that can be waded and fished from
special boats. The fishing season is year round and fishing can
be done with single hand fly rod. Tarpon, bonefish, permit, jacks and big barracudas are
plentiful. Local fishing guide will take you by boat to a range
of interesting and challenging fishing locations and show where
and when to cast. The guides know the local waters
intimately and speak well English. Whether sight casting to giant tarpon or bonefish we
allow you to experience the essence of Cuba in the height of
comfort. The fishing method we will use at this new location is
the same as we are applying in Cayo Largo, with a rotation of
the fishing areas, so that each skiff has as an assigned daily
area to fish. Dolphins Skiffs with Yamaha 4 stroke 60 HP motors
will be used to fish the area, which ensures Avalon’s high
standard of quality and security.
Fly Fishing Tackle.
Fly rods should be fast action models, 9' foot class 8-12 with
matching fly reels equipped with good brakes. Floating
tropical fly lines recommended.
Accomodation. The guests will be staying aboard the yacht
and there are 5 double rooms, all with air conditioning and
private bathrooms. All meals are included. The menu will be
abundant with fresh fish, seafood, seasonal fruit and
vegetables. Meat and vegetarian dishes are also available on
request. A great deal of priority will be placed on the quality
of meals served on board and the attentive service will be
second to none.
Travel Arrangements. Fishing trips to Ana Maria will be arranged throughout the
fishing season. The packages can be booked according to the
client’s preferred dates subject to availability. Anglers take flight to Havanna,
stay one night in hotel there and continue to
Jucaro Port, where they will board the yacht, for a transfer to
the first fishing area. The program can be booked for 4 to 8
anglers in exclusivity. Week starting Saturday afternoon and ending on
next saturday morning.
