Tarpon, permit and bonefish fishing in Belize is regarded as one of the world’s few year round paradises for tropical fishing. Belize borders Mexico to the south. Ambergris Caye is on the tip of the Yucatan Peninsula. The astonishingly beautiful Caribbean scenery as well as exotic birds and many exiting animals, such as the famous howler monkey, that can be seen throughout the Ambergris Caye area’s lagoons and flats, make this trip unforgettable. Fly Fishing, Spin Fishing. Ambergris Caye area is considered as one of the best places for big tarpon and excellent permit fishing. This huge area consists of several different types of flats that can be waded and fished from special locally made skiffs (boats). The fishing season is year round and fishing can be done with single hand fly rod or with spinning gear. There is also the very unusual reef fly fishing available here because the world’s second largest barrier reef is only half a kilometer from Ambergris Caye’s shore. There are not many tropical fishing places in the world which can offer as varied and rich fishing as that of Ambergris Caye. Tarpon, bonefish, permit, jacks and big barracudas are plentiful. Local fishing guide will take you by boat to a range of interesting and challenging fishing locations and show where and when to cast. The experienced guides know the local waters intimately and speak fluent English. Accomodation. The guests will be accommodated at Royal Caribbean Resort, located just outside the small town of San Pedro in Ambergris Caye. The private 1 bedroom cabana suites have kitchenettes, high powered, split unit, air-conditioning.
