Bosnia. Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country in South-Eastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula and is bordered by Croatia to the north, west and south, Serbia to the east, and Montenegro to the southeast. The country is mostly mountainous, encompassing the central Dinaric Alps. Bosnia is very rich with forests, hills and beautiful rivers. During the last few years it has become one of the most preferred European fly fishing destinations.

Fly Fishing. In Bosnia everyone finds his favourite river. For someone it is Sanica or Ribnik, which are typical grayling rivers. For someone it is Unac, Una or Klokot where fisherman can always expect to catch a big trophy sized trout or grayling. These rivers are beautiful and flow through great scenery and suit well for fly fishing. The water in these rivers is gin clear with some beautiful greenish tone. The river-landscape is extremely beautiful, varied and interesting. These rivers have lots of soft rapids with some slower areas and pools, the structure of the river bottom makes it easy to wade on most places. All in all this is among the very best these rivers can offer the fly fishing enthusiast. Unec and Una are located in the heart of the National park 'Una'.

Fly Fishing Tackle. We suggest for fly fishing in Bosnia single handed fly rods rods of 8-9 feet and 4-6 weight, these will cover most needs. Floating lines of WF in white, grey, dull greens are best as bright coloured lines will spook the fish. We recommend fluorocarbon leader with 0,12-0,16 mm tippet.

Flies. Good flies for Bosnian rivers are for example: Nymfs: Hare´s Ear, Bead Head Prince, Pheasant tail. Streamers: Wooly Bugger, Muddler. Dry flies: Adams, Klinkhammer.

Accomodation. The accomodation for fishermen will be in nice guest house close the river and fishing places. In order to avoid unnecessary driving, longer packages are divided into two parts. For fishing in the Una, Unac and Klokot accomodation is in Kulen Vakuf, while fishing Ribnik, Sanica, Pliva and Sana, accomodation is provided in Ribnik.

Travel arrangements. Fishing trips to Bosnia will be arranged throughout the fishing season and the packages can be booked according to the client’s preferred dates subject to availability. Best fly fishing months in Bosnia are April-June and September. Anglers will take a flight to Croatia, Zagreb and continue there with rental car to destination. It is about 2,5 hours driving from Zagreb to Kulen Vakuf.
