Fly Fishing, Spin Fishing. Rainbow trout are wild in Peru Rivers and takes lures and flies. The cold waters from the Huancaya river offers us the wild Rainbow trout. We use 4X4 trucks to explore more than 70 Km in the river which have hundreds of nice holes, currents and lagoons. We can use spinning or fly fishing equipment. The Alto Cañete River, in the upper basin of the Cañete River in the northern part of the province of Yauyos, flows 215 km down from the Pichcahuaria Range and the foot of Mount Ticlla, in the Andes Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. The river offer us a perfect scenery for practice the trout fishing, with nice holes and good volume of clean water. The upper part of the river is 10,000 feet over sea level. The high volume of water in the river makes a good number of small lagoons with nice falls between them. In this area you will find regular size fish from 6” to 18”. Lakes and lagoons that are out of the river canyon have big fish. We use small boats with electrical outboard engines to troll lures like Rapalas or flatfish. Normally these lagoons are up to 12,000 feet above sea level.  

Fishing Season. The fishing season starts early April and ends in December. The best months are April, May, June, September, October, November and December.

Fishing Tackle. For this package we provide tackle but you can bring your own. Our fishing technique is casting from the river shore.  Our suggest is at least 2 spinning or casting rods, one 5’6” footer 2 piece light action and one 6’6” medium action. Fly fishing rods must be smaller like 3/4 or 5/6. As the same of the rods, at least 2 reels with a capacity for 120 yards of a 6 pounds line. Fly fishing reels have to fit to your size rod. Monofilament Lines of  4, 6 and 8 lbs. Stren and Silver Thread are highly recommended lines. Variety of Fly lines are recommended, floating tips, sinker tips.

Lures and Flies. Small spinners like Mepps Aglia, XD, Blue Fox, Panther’s Martin in different sizes from 1 to 4 and assorted colors. For lake fishing Rapalas Tail Dancer and Flatfish X4 or Y4 in assorted colors. The best flies are small dry flies and nymphs.  

Accomodation. Accomodation for fishermen is in a well maintained and clean house part of the Agriculture Project of Valle Grande, in the small town of Llapay. The house has clean rooms, bathrooms with hot water, big dinner area with TV-DVD. All meals are prepared by our team by your request.

General Equipment. Waders, lightweight shirts and pants, wide brimmed hat or cap, a lightweight waterproof jacket, a polar fleece sweatshirt, an extra pair of sandals or sneakers, polarized sunglasses, sunblock, lip protector.

Travel Arrangements. Fishing trips to Canete will be arranged throughout the fishing season and the packages can be booked according to the client’s preferred dates subject to availability. Customers take interational flight to Lima, meet guide there and continue together with car to destination.
