Fly fishing for salmon on Gaula
River, Granöien beat in Mid-Norway. Fishmaster can offer several
good fishing weeks for the groups on good private 0,7 km long Granöien fly fishing beat on middle
Gaula river. There will be only
5 fly fishermen at the same time on
this beat and it will be rented exclusively for the groups for
one week at a time.
Gaula. Gaula is one of the best salmon rivers in Norway
and flows into the Atlantic Ocean close Trondheim. Gaula is
famous for its big size salmon, the biggest are a round 20
kilos. The annual catch from the Gaula river varies
between 30-50 tons of salmon.
Gaula - Granöien. The guests
will fish beautiful, private Granöien beat situated middle Gaula,
8 km upstream from Stören and about 50 km from the Atlantic Ocean.
Granöien beat is approx 0,7 km long and is located on the East (Right) side of the
famous Gaula River. Granöien beat is one of the good beats of the Gaula, the
catch has been varied between 40 and 75 salmon per season. The beat suits excellent for fly fishing, it is very
beautiful and prolific beat and can be fished well in all water
levels. The beat will be available for the weeks
24 (9-16.6), 25 (16-23.6), 30 (21-28.7),
31 (28.8-4.8)
and 32 (4-11.8) for the season 2012. There will be only
5 fly fishermen at the same time on
this beat and it will be rented exclusively for the groups for
one week. Only fly fishing
with fly rod is allowed. Bag limit is one salmon per
person per day. If fisherman kills a salmon, he must stop fishing
until midnight. All seatrout must be released.
Fly Fishing Tackle.
For fly fishing for salmon on Gaula
we recommend 12-15 ' foot double handed rods for lines #8-11 and
suitable fly reels with good quality brakes. Floating, sink tip or
intermediate shooting heads are most used fly lines but please
bring also medium sinking shooting head for possible high water
conditions.
Disinfection of Fishing Gear.
Before fishing starts everyone must disinfect
their fishing gear and buy a Norwegian state license. State
lisence can be bought from internet and disinfection can be done
at nearby Stören Natursenter or Stören Camping.
Flies. Good fly
patterns for
Gaula are for example Gaula Green Butt, Red Butt, Black Sheep, Green Highlander, Greenlander,
Sunray Shadow, Black & Green and Silver & Black.
Accomodation for fishermen
is in self catering cabin, about 200 m of the
beat. There is a kitchen and bedrooms for 2 and 3 persons. Toilet
and
shower are in nearby building.
Travel Arrangements. Anglers
will take flight and/or car transport to Norway. It is about 1,5
hours drive from Trondheim airport to the Granöien beat. Jouni Rauha from
Fishmaster shows the accomodation and the beat to guests. Fishing week begins
at 14 o'clock on Saturday and ends next Saturday at 12 o'clock.
