Fly fishing
trips to one of the most famous salmon rivers in Scotland,
River Dee. Fishmaster arranges a hosted trip to the Dee,
Kincardine on
18-25th March 2012. The destination will be a very good Kincardine beat
on
middle Dee, close Kincardine O'Neil village. During the year
2009 this week gave us 7 springers and the same week year 2010
we caught 11 springers for 3 rods. Success continued 2011 on our
regular spring week when we caught 9 springers. There is room for 3 persons
including the host Jouni Rauha from Fishmaster. We also have a
local fishing guide, ghillie.
Dee.
The Dee is located in the east of Scotland. It is
very famous and one of Scotland's big four salmon rivers.
The Dee is well known for its early run salmon and the
spring fishing season is from February until May. The
Dee
is a very beautiful river which suits excellently for fly
fishing. The fishing on the river Dee is catch and
release fishing.
Fly Fishing. Our fly fishing
group will fish exclusively the Kincardine Beat on middle Dee, close
Kincardine O'Neil. This is superb fly-fishing water which fishes
well in a wide range of heights. The beat is 2 km long and consists
north (left) bank, so there will be plenty of room for every
fisherman. The beat is booked exclusively for our group of 3 persons
and it consists of 10 interesting pools. The March and Calm Pools,
Lucky Hole, Whinbush, Flat and Clay Pot are all sheltered from cold
northerly winds. There are some excellent runs and lies to fish and
all within easy distance of an admiring audience at the picturesque
hut with its cosy fire. Downstream the Willow Bed,
Bend, Boat and Village Pools are all encouraging casts. The area
is beautiful and the river here is easy to cover well with fly.
There is also a fishing hut on the riverbank. Only fly
fishing is allowed.
Fly Fishing Tackle.
For fly fishing for salmon on the Dee
we recommend 12-15 ' feet double handed rods for lines #8-11 and
suitable fly reels with good quality brakes. Floating, sink tip or
intermediate shooting heads are most used fly lines but please
bring also medium sinking fly line for possible high water
conditions.
Flies. Good salmon fly
patterns for
Dee are: Dee Sheep, Willie Gunn, Black Sheep, Black & Yellow, Munroe
Killer, Cascade, Monkey, Allys Shrimp and Garry.
Accomodation for guests will be in
Scottish
house close the beat in Kincardine O'Neil village. In the cottage there is a toilet, a shower,
a living
room, a well equipped kitchen and double bedrooms. We will cook the food
in accomodation or dine at local pubs.
Travel Arrangements. Fishing trips
to Dee River are always hosted trips. Anglers will first take flight to
Aberdeen. At the airport they will meet host Jouni Rauha and
continue to Dee by car, it is only an hour drive to Kincardine destination.
After the fishing week Jouni will give the guests car ride back to Aberdeen airport.
