Fly Fishing in Los Alerces,
Patagonia. When
the fishing season in the Northern Hemisphere is over there is
an alternative for the enthutiastics of flyfishing. Come over
and visit the extraordinary rivers and lakes in Argentine
Patagonia. Customers can fish the hottest
places, rivers and lakes of the
Los Alerces National Park.
Fly fishing season. The
fishing season opens on
November the 1st
and ends on
May the 1st. As
the season begins in late spring and early summer the water
level of the rivers is high because of snow melting. Rainbow
trouts have finished their spawning, feed aggressively and
offering fierce battles. You can spend all day fishing without
meeting any other angler, just you and the spectacular scenery
of the Andes. This is one of the most productive periods and
offers a unique opportunity of a tremendous fishing. We use
sinking or sinking tip lines with nymphs or streamers, sizes 4
to 12.
During January
and February the volume of water rivers carry gradually
decreases, temperature rises and we fish trouts with sinking as
well as with floating lines, depending on the weather conditions
and the time of the day. At the end of
March and during April it is early fall, as water temperatures
of the rivers diminish, trout become more active and
start to move from the lakes into the rivers and streams, it is
show time. You can expect good captures with floating as well as
with sinking lines. Big trout are on the move, over 10
pounds can be caught if you are lucky.
Fly fishing.
Every day the guide will take you from our base in Trevelin to
different fishing spots, rivers, streams and glacial lakes with
great population of rainbows, browns and brook trouts of good
size (over 15 inches) having always the possibility of catching
trouts between 4 and 8 pounds, that will ensure you an amazing
fishing experience. We receive only 2 or 3 fishermen at a time
so you can be sure that any detail will be taken care of in
order to make your trip easier, just to relax and enjoy your
fishing.
