Fishing Trips - Maldives

Welcome to a hosted Fishmaster fishing trip to Maldives - Fisherman's paradise. Maldives is a world famous for excellent fly fishing or spin fishing for giant trevally, bluefin trevally, striped trevally, bonefish, bonito and many other fish. Jouni Rauha from Fishmaster will travel with as a host and a fishing guide.

Maldives. The Maldives is an island nation consisting of a group of atolls in the Indian Ocean, located south of India and about seven hundred kilometers south-west of Sri Lanka. The Maldives' twenty-six atolls featuring 1,192 islets, roughly two hundred of which are inhabited. The capital is Male with approx 80000 inhabitants.

Fly Fishing. For fly fishing we recommend 9' feet single handed fast action rods for lines #8-11 and suitable fly reels with good quality brakes and minimum of 200 m strong backing. We highly recommend bringing three or four-piece rods. Floating or floating with intermediate tip tropical wf fly lines are most used fly lines. Fly fishing is mostly sight fishing and will be done by wading the huge flats and endless coral reefs. Good flies for trevallies: Clouser Minnows, deceivers sizes 4-1/0 in colours white, white/yellow, white/green. Bonefish flies are for example Clouser Minnow, Crazy Charlie, Bonefish Special and small crabs tied on hooks 4-8 in colours sand and light-brown.

Spin Fishing. Spin fishing rods should be long handled, 8-10 feet long, for 1-3 ounce lures, medium-heavy action with plenty of power for hook setting/pressuring big fish. Bring at least two rods and reels, just in case of break. Reels should have a high-speed retrieve ratio and good quality brakes. Spoons, poppers (Williamsson, Rapala Skitter Pop and Creek Chub Knuckle Head) and jigs will work best as lures. Spin fishing will be done by wading the huge flats and endless coral reefs or casting from the deck of mothership.

Mothership. At all times you can be assured of your safety and comfort whilst aboard our mothership. It is fully equipped and comfortable. Kandi Hibaru is 75 ft Long, 26 ft Wide and is equipped with Yanmar 230 hp engine, maximum speed is 10 knots.

Accomodation. The accomodation for the fishermen will be in well equipped mothership, single bedroom/cabin with en-suite toilet and shower. All meals are included in price.

Travel Arrangements. Anglers take an international flight to Male, Maldives and continue with mothership from Male to destination.
