The beginning of
week was very quiet but towards the end of the week fishing was
good. Total catch of the week at our Gaula Flyfishing beat was 6
salmon and 1 seatrout that raised the season 2008 grand total to
very good 322 fish, dividing into 304 salmon and 18 seatrout. In the
beginning of the week the weather was sunny and warm and water level
dropped below 20 cubics. Tuesday we had decent rain and water raised
fast to 380 cubics and dropped back to 100 cubics per second until
Saturday. The last part of week was cloudy and colder and fishing was
good. Our Swedish guest Erik Stolth caught 8,4 kg and 5,8 kg salmon
at Bruahölen, both with Red Tempeldog Fly. I caught myself 9,0 kg salmon
at Stasjonshölen with Black Sheep, 5,5 kg salmon at Svingen with
Green Butt, 3,9 kg salmon and 1,8 kg grilse at Stasjonshölen pool
with Black Sheep and Pupujussi fly and 1,0 kg seatrout at Gyllsaga
pool with
Flomfluga. Water temperature was around 11 degrees.

Fishing continued
good on our Gaula Flyfishing beat.
This week's total catch of
our beat was 18 salmon. The small rise of water at the end of last
week had encouraged good number of salmon to move and some fresh
fish run straight from the sea as well. Tommi Paananen fished our
beat first time ever and did extrelmely well, he caught 8.0 kg, 7.6
kg, 7.6 kg and 7.5 kg salmon. Three of them he took with Sunray
Shadow. Also Anders Breinbjerg visited us the first time and did
well and took 7,1 kg, 6.0 kg, 4.3 kg and 3.6 kg salmon. Our regular
guest Michael Rosander caught 6.9 kg, 6.0 kg Salmon at Sanden and
2.9 kg salmon at Svingen pool. I had myself the best fishing day of
season on Saturday when I caught and released 6.9 kg, 5.3 kg, 4.8 kg
and 2.0 kg salmon. The weather of the week was
varied, daytime temperatures around 15-20 degrees and night time around
10 degrees. Water
level was low and varied between 20 and 30 cubics per second. Water
temperature was about 13 degrees.

Fishing continued
good in varying conditions on our Gaula Flyfishing beat.
This week's total catch of our beat was 21 fish divided into 17
salmon and 4 seatrout. Jari Koski did extremely well and caught 9,0
kg, 8,5 kg, 6,0 kg and 5,8 kg salmon, 3 of them at Bruahölen and one
at Stasjonshölen pool. Our regular fisherman Petteri Juvakka did
again well and caught 8,8 kg and 5,9 kg salmon at Svingen pool.
Ilkka Neva landed 9,0 kg salmon and 1,9 kg grilse at Bruahölen pool
and 1,0 kg seatrout at Stasjonshölen pool.
The weather of the week was mostly
cloudy, daytime temperatures around 20 degrees and night time around
10 degrees. Water level was low and varied around 20 cubics in the
beginning of the week. Thursday we had rain in whole Gaula valley
and water level raised to 70 cubics and dropped to 50 cubics on
Saturday. Water temperature was whole week about 13-14 degrees.

Fishing was good despite low water conditions on our Gaula Flyfishing beat.
This week's total catch of our beat was 26 salmon and 2 seatrout.
The biggest salmon of the week weighing 8,3 kg was caught by
a finnish fisherman Jarmo Miettinen at Svingen pool. Harri Dahlin
did also very well and managed to catch a 6,5 kg and 6,0 kg at
Stasjonshölen pool and 5,0 kg salmon at Bruahölen pool. Antti
Manninen caught 3 grilse. Jari Rajaranta caught 4,5 kg salmon with
Green Highlander at Svingen and 3,7 kg salmon at Stasjonshölen with
Allys Shrimp. Jouni Heikkurinen caught 7,9 kg salmon and 1,5 kg
grilse at Bruahölen pool, both with Green Butt fly.
The weather of the week was mostly
cloudy, daytime temperatures around 20 degrees and night time around
10 degrees. Water level was low and varied between 16 and 30 cubics
per second and water temperature was 15-16 degrees.

Fishing was good despite difficult
and challenging low and warm water conditions on our Gaula Flyfishing beat.
This week's total catch of
our beautiful and prolific beat was 25 salmon and 3 seatrout. The biggest salmon of the week weighing
10,2 kg
was caught by a finnish fisherman Pertti Kariniemi at Bruahölen
pool. He also caught a 6,5 kg salmon at the same pool. Mika Heikkinen
did also very well and managed to catch a 8,8 kg salmon at
Svingen pool with Black Sheep tube fly. He
also caught 2,9 kg salmon and 1,2 kg grilse at the same
pool and 4,8 kg salmon and 2,3 kg grilse at Sanden pool. Jorma
Ahtonen caught 4 grilse; 2,2 and 2,0 kg at Svingen, 2,0 kg at Sanden
ja 1,5 kg at Stasjonshölen. Toni Vahtola caught 4,0 kg salmon with
Red Butt fly at Svingen and 1,8 kg grilse with Black Sheep tube fly at
Gyllteigen pool.
The weather of the week was extremely warm and
sunny, daytime temperatures around 30 degrees and night time around
15 degrees. Water
level was very low and dropped slowly from 25 cubics til 15 cubics per second and water
temperature was 18-19 degrees. Local thunderstorm on Thursday evening at
upper river raised the water to 50 cubics Friday morning and then dropped fast back
to 20 cubics per second on Saturday.

Fishing continued
to be excellent on our Gaula Flyfishing beat.
This week's total catch of our beat was 43 salmon and 2 seatrout.
The biggest salmon of the week weighing 11,0 kg was caught by a
danish fisherman Anton Dahl at Stasjonshölen pool. The fish took a
Silver Sheep tube fly. He also caught 5,3 kg salmon and 2,2 kg and
2,0 kg grilse at the same pool. Finnish fisherman Juhani Collan
caught total of 7 salmon, two biggest of them were 6,8 kg fish at
Svingen and 5,3 kg at Bruahölen pool. Pekka Huhtela was able to
catch 9 salmon and one seatrout, biggest two of his salmon weighed
4,7 and 4,3 kg. Mika Kumpulainen managed to catch some nice fish as
well: a 9,1 and 8,3 and 4,0 kg salmon at Svingen pool and 2 grilse
and one seatrout at different pools.
In the beginning of the week
weather was mostly cloudy and the rest of the week was sunny and
very warm. Water level dropped slowly from 70 cubics til 25 cubics
per second and water temperature was between 11 and 15 degrees.

Again excellent fishing
week in good conditions on the Gaula river.
This week's total catch of our Gaula Flyfishing beat was 52 salmon
and one seatrout. The biggest salmon of the week weighing 10,2 kg
was caught by a skillful swedish fisherman Lars Järvesjö at
Bruahölen pool. He also caught 10,1 and 5,0 kg and 3,8 kg and 3,5 kg
salmon and 1,3 kg grilse at Stasjonshölen pool, 4,5 kg salmon at
Bruahölen pool and 2,5 kg seatrout at Sanden pool. Irishman Andrew
Kelly caught and released 7,5 ja 2,0 kg salmon at Bruahölen and 4,3
and 2,0 kg fish at Stasjonshölen pool. Italian guest Marco Cipriani
caught and released 8,7 kg salmon and 2 grilse at Sanden pool.
The weather of the week was mostly
cloudy and there was some rain showers. Water level varied between
40 and 90 cubics per second and water temperature was between 11 and
15 degrees.

Very good fishing
week in good conditions on the Gaula river.
This week's total catch of our Gaula Flyfishing beat was 39 salmon
and 3 seatrout. The biggest salmon of the week weighing 10,9 kg was
caught by finnish fisherman Joni Tiainen with Black and Silver
coloured Dal tube fly at Svingen pool. He caught also 5,2 kg salmon
and 1,5 kg grilse at Stasjonshölen pool and grilse at Sanden pool.
Jarmo Näppi caught 8 salmon weighing 1,5-5,5 kg at several our
pools. Sauli Liukkonen caught 3 salmon weighing 9,4 and 5,9 and 1,5
kg. Stefan Sieber caught 8,5 kg and 5,0 kg salmon at Sanden and also
5,0 kg at Svingen pool, congratulations for this nice and skilful
fisherman from Switzerland. Nice to see that we have very good
number of all sizes of salmon in our pools that predicts good
fishing for the next seasons as well.
The weather in the beginning of the
week was mostly cloudy and varied and changed to a sunny weather
towards the end of the week. Water level raised in the beginning of
the week to 120 cubics and dropped back to 30 cubics per second
towards the end of the week and water temperature was about 14-15
degrees.

Good fishing day at
our Gaula Flyfishing beat, 10 salmon in one day. The fish were
grilse and 2 SW fish weighing between 1,5 and 4,7 kg.
28.6-5.7.2008
Fly fishing
continued good although somewhat slower than previous weeks in good conditions on the Gaula river. Total catch of
our Gaula Flyfishing beat this week was 15 salmon and 1 seatrout. The biggest salmon of the week weighing
15,0 kg
was caught by danish fisherman Niels Hougaard with Black Sheep fly at Sanden pool. He
caught as well 14,1 and 11,5 kg salmon at the same pool, great catch for this
skillful fisherman. Olov Olsson caught 6,9 kg salmon with Pathagorva
fly at Gyllteigen pool. Teemu Rantanen caught 5,5 kg fish also at
Gyllteigen pool. The weather in the beginning of the
week was mostly cloudy, rainy and varied and changed to a sunny very
warm weather towards the end of the week. Water level was in the
beginning of the week 70 cubics and raised on tuesday night to 230
and dropped back to 60 cubics per second towards the end of the week
and water temperature raised from 10 to 15 degrees.

Fly fishing
continued good with great conditions on the Gaula river. Total catch of
our Gaula Flyfishing beat this week was 18 salmon. The biggest salmon of the week weighing
13,5 kg
was caught by finnish fisherman Mikko Stenberg at our new
Stasjonshölen pool. The fish took Pimp Butt tube fly. I caught
myself a 12,3 kg salmon at Svingen with Black Sheep tube and Simon
Jones caught 10,5 kg fish with Red Butt at Gyllteigen pool. Most
of the fish caught this week were 3 sw salmon and weighed between 5 and 10 kg. The
weather of the week was mostly cloudy, rainy and varied. Water level varied between
140 and 60
cubics per second and water temperature was around 9-11 degrees.

Good fishing
for big salmon in good conditions.
This season seems to be very good year for big salmon at our Gaula
Flyfishing beat. Total catch of
the week was 20 big salmon. The biggest salmon of the week weighing 11,0 kg
was caught by german fisherman Stefan Gross at
Sanden pool. The fish took Green Highlander tube fly. Most
of the fish caught this week were 3 sw salmon and weighed between 7 and 10 kg. The
weather of the week was mostly cloudy, rainy and varied. Water level varied between
180 and 90
cubics per second and water temperature was around 9-10 degrees.
7-14.6.2008
Excellent fishing
in good conditions. All our
beats were well fishable and performed well. New beats Stasjonshölen
and Metli proved to be nice to fish and both gave good nuber of
salmon: 6 fish from Stasjonshölen and 4 from Metli. Total catch of
the week was 22 salmon and one seatrout. The biggest salmon, 13.5 kg
was caught by finnish fisherman Asko Saarinen at Gyllsaga pool. Most
of the fish caught this week weighed between 8 and 11 kg. The
weather of the week was mostly cloudy, rainy and cold, also an
excellent fishing weather. Water level varied between 300 and 140
cubics per second and water temperature was around 9 degrees.

7.6.2008. 13,5 kg Salmon
Asko Saarinen caught so far the
biggest salmon of our season, a monster of 13,5 kg from Gyllsaga
pool with Greenlander tube fly. The salmon offered him a fight of
a lifetime that took about 30 minutes and the fishermen had to
follow the salmon to the next pool before he could beach it.
1-7.6.2008
Pekka Kuoksa caught our first
salmon of the season from new Orkla Metli beat. This 5,1 kg fish
took a Black Sheep tube fly. Thomas Joswig caught 6,5 kg salmon at
the same Metli pool with Sunray Shadow. Thomas also lost a big one
couple day earlier at the same pool. Couple big fish has been lost
at our Bruahölen pool. The conditions on Gaula river have
improved during the last days and the water level has dropped slowly
to a moderate 220-180 cubics per second. The weather has been extremely warm
and the daytime temperatures close to 30 degrees. The water
temperature has rosen to moderate 12-13 degrees centigrade and also
the water is very clear and has beautiful greenish tone.
1.6.2008
The fishing season has started with high water level in Gaula river
in Norway. The last days of May were extremely warm, the air
temperature has been over 25 degrees that caused a lot of melting
water and river rose up to 450 cubics in second. During the first
day the water dropped to 270 cubics and temperature raised from 6
degrees to 7 degrees.Today the weather has been cloudy. Day time max
temperature has been just under 20 degrees and night time temperature
around 10 degrees. During the first day of the season 23 salmon has been reported to Stören Natursenter catch
statistics, biggest 14,6 kg. Most of these fish has been caught at
lower river but also 3 salmon has been caught above Gaulfossen from
middle river.
