5-12.6.2010

Poor fishing week on our Gaula beats. The second week of June is normally one of the best June weeks but not this year. The water was too high and cold for salmon to run up to our normal beats in middle river. Our fishermen caught three salmon and lost 6. All except one hooked salmon were on our new Röskaft Söndre Vest pool below Gaulfossen. On Friday evening Ander Stolth hooked a big salmon at Gyllsaga pool but unfortunately lost the fish just before landing it. In the end of week there was some serious rain and Gaula raised up to flood over 500 cubics. The next fishing week begins with very high water level. Interesting to see what happens when the water level drop. Gaula Flyfishing 2010 catch statistics >>

10.6.2010

Yesterday 9.6 we caught our first couple salmon of this season. Michael Boesader caught 6,1 kg salmon with Green Highlander tube from our Röskaft Söndre Vest pool. Sami Lauronen caught also 6,7 kg (C&R) salmon from same pool and another two fish were lost there as well. Early this morning Michael Boesader caught again 8,8 kg salmon from the same pool. I myself lost nice salmon there of about 8-9 kg. Sami Lauronen also lost one salmon at the same pool. Due to rain and melting water last days the water level has been between 200 and 280 cubic and water temperature around 8 degrees and therefore salmon haven't run up the Gaulfossen yet. Gaula Flyfishing 2010 catch statistics >>  Watch slide show about new Röskaft Söndre Vest pool >>

1-5.6.2010

During the opening week of the season the conditions on the river were difficult, the water level at Gaula fluctuated between 250 and 400 cubics and water was cold, temperature was only around 6 degrees. Water was too high and cold for salmon to run up the Gaulfossen, so no salmon was caught at our beat this opening week. Quite nice catches has been caught at lower part of the Gaula river, most part of the salmon weighing between 7-12 kg, biggest salmon 20 kg so far. At the moment water is dropping fast, so I think the conditions will improve for next week. Next week we also have a new Röskaft Söndre Vest pool below Gaulfossen.
