| Fly fishing for seatrout on Rio Gallegos river in Southern Argentina, Patagonia. Rio
Gallegos is one of the best seatrout rivers in
the whole world. Nowhere else in the world there is so much
seatrout as there is in the rivers of Patagonia. They also grow very big,
the average size of seatrout in Rio Gallegos is approx 4-5 kg. Every season
many seatrout over 8 kg will be caught from this fine
river, the biggest ones are round 10 kg.
Fly fishing season and nature.
The best season for this excellent seatrout fly fishing is from
January to mid April. The river is very beautiful and suits
excellently for fly fishing. The nature in Patagonia is
extraordinary and very beautiful.
Fly Fishing. Fly fishing
will be done at Bella Vista beat on Rio Gallegos river and
there is always local fishing guide per 2 fly fishermen. Both single and double handed fly rods can be used on
Gallegos-river (AFTM class 7-10, rod length 9'-15'). Fishing is
'Catch and release' only. Popular fly patterns for Rio Gallegos
are dark tube flies, different Leeches and Wolly Buggers, rubber
leg nymphs.
Accomodation. The
accomodation for fly fishermen is in the main building of
Bella Vista lodge. This charming building is from the beginning
of 20 th century and there are several double bedrooms with own
toilet and shower. The house is located very close to the
river Rio Gallegos. In the dining room of the houses the guests
will enjoy delicious local meals and drinks. All meals and
drinks are included in the price.
Travel Arrangements.
Fly fishing
trips to Argentina, Rio Gallegos will be arranged throughout the fishing season and the
packages can be booked according to the client’s preferred dates.
Anglers will take a flight to Buenos Aires and
continue with domestic flight to Rio Gallegos. The guide will be
waiting on the airport and take you to the lodge by car. After
fishing week guide will take the anglers back to Rio Gallegos
airport.
