Welcome to a fly fishing trip to Seychelles, Praslin - fisherman's paradise. Seychelles is a world famous for excellent fly fishing
for
bonefish, giant trevally, golden trevally, striped trevally, barracuda and many other fish.
Seychelles is an
archipelago nation of 155 islands in the Indian Ocean, some
1,500 kilometres (930 mi) east of mainland Africa, northeast of
the island of Madagascar.
Seychelles is ideally situated on the migratory routes
for large game fish and in addition there is many other species
that are resident throughout the year.
Fly Fishing.
The fishing can be done with heavy single hand fly rod by casting and wading the shallow flats. You
can fish for
bonefish, golden trevally, striped trevally and many other
species. Praslin Island has long sandy beaches with small flats
in front of beach that suit excellent for fly fishing.
Fishing Tackle.
For fly fishing we recommend 9 ' feet single handed rods for
lines #8-10 and suitable good quality fly reels with disc brakes.
Floating tropical wf fly lines are most used and recommended fly lines.
Flies. Bonefish and
trevally flies
should be light-weight. Clouser
Minnow, Crazy Charlie, Bonefish Special, Gummy Minnow and small
crabs tied on hooks 4 or 6, sand and light-brown. Rag
Head Crab, Brown Special, Velcro Crab and Delīs Merkin tied on
hooks 4.
Accomodation. The accomodation for the fishermen will be
in guest house in Praslin island, double bedroom with toilet and
shower. Breakfast is included.
Travel Arrangements. Anglers take an international flight
to Mahe, Seychelles and continue with short domestic flight to
Praslin.
