Slovenia. Slovenia is a small country in southern Central Europe bordering Italy to the west, the Adriatic Sea to the southwest, Croatia to the south and east, Hungary to the northeast, and Austria to the north. The capital of Slovenia is Ljubljana.

Fly Fishing. Slovenian rivers and streams are a mecca to fly fishers throughout the world. The Slovenian Sava Bohinjka, Soca and Idrica rivers are beatiful alpine rivers and flow throgh grand scenery and suits well for fly fishing. The water in these rivers is gin clear with some beautiful greenish tone. These rivers are good natural living places of brown trout, marble trout, rainbow trout and grayling. Sava Bohinjka, Soca and Idrica rivers are fly fishing only, the river-landscape is extremely beautiful, varied and interesting. The rivers have lots of soft rapids with some slower areas and pools. The structure of the river bottom makes it easy to wade on most places. All in all this is among the very best these rivers can offer the fly fishing enthusiast. We practise strict catch and releace fly fishing policy. During the fishing week Nikolai Holttinen and Jouni Rauha will work as fishing guide for the fishing group.

Fly Fishing Tackle. We suggest for fly fishing in Slovenia single handed fly rods rods of 8-9 feet and 4-6 weight, these will cover most needs. Floating lines of DT or WF in greys, dull greens are best as bright coloured lines will spook the fish.

Flies. Good flies for Slovenian rivers are for example: Nymfs: Montana, Woolly Worm, Hare´s Ear, Bead Head Prince, Pheasant tail. Streamers: Wooly Bugger, Marabou Muddler, Matuka. Dry flies: Adams, Klinkhammer.

Season. Fly fishing season in Sava Bohinjka river is from 25th March to 30th November. In addition danubian salmon, hucho can be fished from 1st December to 14th February. Soca-river fly fishing season is from 1st April to 31th October.

Accomodation. The accomodation for fishermen will be in nice guest house close the river and fishing places. Double bedroom and breakfast is included in price.

Travel arrangements. Fly fishing trips to Slovenia are always hosted trips. Anglers will take a flight to Slovenia, Ljubljana and meet guide at the airport and continue with guide's car to destination. The guide will take care of all car transports during the week.
